Home Today.

Nothing like a few aches and pains to make someone a whining, grating annoyance. Which is what I have been for the past week. I think as aches and pains go, mine are monumental. Colossal. I'll happily complain about them to you.

I've got several letters of recommendation stretched out before me. Yeesh, these students are applying to so many these days!

Oh, the end of the quarter! The end of the quarter! It's in sight! Just over yonder!

I applied for sabbatical for next year. I'm hoping that I get the full year off to finish several projects. I've got a whole bunch of bits and pieces of things lying around in files that I know are worthy of further investigation, but dag gumit, I haven't had the time to investigate where they'll go. I was telling Meredith that basically I've been in school since 1976. I have never had a break from some kind of schooling or some kind of involvement with a school. Can you imagine? No break since 1976?? Granted, things were easier then. We had mandated naps . . .

During my sabbatical year (if it comes) I'd like to work on some personal essays. But what I've found is I can't write long pieces. The essays that I write tend to be shorts.

Like this stuff.
